Perimenopause is more than just physical symptoms.
Perimenopause is more than just physical symptoms.
This phase of life can bring with it significant mental health concerns - increased anxiety, depression, lowered mood generally, brain fog…
Absolutely the hormone changes - namely lower progesterone and estrogen - are a factor. As is the fact that this phase of life coincides with increased demands personally and professionally - bigger kids with more involved emotional needs, family and friends with increased health demands, greater demands at work. It all comes on at once. All of this coupled with poor sleep - it can feel really intense and debilitating.
It is really important that your treatment plan addresses the whole of this. Hormones, yes, and most particularly, progesterone support; and also sleep support; support for adrenal (think: cortisol) health; nutritional support; an appropriate exercise plan (not too little and not too much)… All of this will impact your ability to cope with the increased demands on you and allow you to feel physically AND mentally supported in this phase of life.
I’m co-hosting an event this coming Monday, October 7 all about how to support yourself in this phase of life. Register via the link in my bio ☝️
And as always, please book in if you need individualized care. ❤️
